Global Reforestation Projects

Our network of Carbon Offset Company certified global reforestation projects

  • California

Devastated by wild fires this year, California needs our help now more than ever. We're planting trees in the Plumas National Forest to help recoup the 65,000 acres burned in the 2007 Moonlight Fire.

  • Florida

Recent years of unhealthy forests have been major contributors to Florida's disastrous wildfires so we've decided on this project in Putnam Co., FL in efforts to help restore this biodiverse ecosystem.

  • Oregon

Forests are shrinking on state and private land in Oregon, where an estimated 522,000 acres of forest cover have disappeared since 2000. That's an area six times larger than the city of Portland, equal to more than half of Oregon's designated state forests.

  • Colorado

These precious forests face serious threats, including insect infestations, long-term drought, and forest fires. Unhealthy forests set the stage for exceptionally large, devastating wildfires that significantly increase risks of dangerous flooding, extreme erosion, degraded water quality and reduced water storage capacity.

  • Senegal

46.7% of Senegal's population lives below the poverty line. We're focusing on the reforestation of Fatick, a town of about 25,000 in western Senegal.

  • U.S. National Forests

Working on behalf of the American public, the NFF leads forest conservation efforts and promotes responsible recreation. We believe these lands, and all they provide, are an American treasure and are vital to the health of our communities.

  • Madagascar

Madagascar is more than just an island from an animated movie. It’s a nation with over 200,000 species of plants and animals that don’t exist anywhere else in the world. But more than 90% of Madagascar’s original forests have been destroyed, displacing entire animal species and taking away the Malagasy’s ability to farm and live on the land.

  • Haiti

Haiti is the world's 3rd hungriest country, and only 2% of the country's original forests remain.

  • Pacific NW Orca Project

Planting trees along rivers and streams of the Pacific Northwest restores habitat for the endangered orca. Trees help reduce pollution and improve the health and quantity of salmon for the orca to eat!

  • Appalachia

Planting trees here will benefit nearby communities as hydrological function will be improved, thus providing them with better quality water. This project also creates meaningful jobs in communities suffering from high rates of poverty and unemployment.

Our Forestry Partners

Our network of Global Forestry Partners includes world-class organizations like Trees for the Future, Plant With Purpose, National Forest Foundation, One Tree Planted, and Eden Projects, to certifiably plant trees to offset carbon emissions. In an ongoing effort to secure future forest capacity, we are always looking for reputable and experienced reforestation organizations to expand our network of projects. If your reforestation organization is interested in joining our global network of projects, please apply to join The Carbon Offset Company below.

Our Tree Planting Standards

All tree planting projects supported by The Carbon Offset Company are held to the following standards

1

Verifiable

Accurate, quantified, and monitored carbon reductions are required for our tree planting projects.

2

Additional

Additionality requires the carbon emission reductions to be above and beyond business-as-usual. We define additionality as greenhouse gas reductions beyond what would have happened in the absence of the project or in a business-as-usual scenario.

3

Permanence

Permanence is commonly referred to as the useful life of a project in reducing carbon emissions. We work with tree planting partners that create long lasting relationships with both government and land owners to ensure the trees will not be logged and will continue to sequester carbon into perpetuity.

5

Organizational Transformation

The Carbon Offset Company aims to cost effectively transform companies, governmental entities, and any other kind of organization and people into eco-friendly versions of themselves. We are flexible in our approach to ensure your organization and family can cost-effectively become a leader in creating global climate improvements. For businesses specifically, The Carbon Offset Company's goal is to help you profitably contribute through marketing and re-branding assistance. Find out more here.

6

Social Benefits

The Carbon Offset Company supports projects that not only benefit the environment but also improve the socio-economic conditions by creating jobs and opportunities conducive to trade and development of the community as a whole.

7

Environmental Benefits

Of course our projects help the environment, but you'd be surprised by how much and in how many areas. In addition to carbon sequestration, many projects provide a range of additional ecosystem services that enhance biodiversity, preserve natural habitats, control erosion, reduce localized air and water pollution, and more.
